[3] Each year the gates open at 9:00 AM, cadets from the prestigious Camden Military Academy present the colors at 11:45 AM, and the six races begin at 1:00 PM.
Suggested attire is typically dresses and sunhats for women and bowties and sport coats for men.
In the 1940s, Woodward gave the 600 acres of the course to Ernest Kirkover, who was unable to afford the costs of upkeeping the race course.
[4] When Mrs. Scott died in 1983, the 600 acres (2.4 km2) plus of Springdale Race Course was deeded to the state of South Carolina under agreement that the land remain solely for equine use in perpetuity.
