Castle Street (Liverpool ward)

Castle Street is a defunct electoral ward in Liverpool, in Merseyside, England, and part of the Liverpool Riverside parliamentary.

Historically, it was part of Lancashire before the establishment of Merseyside.

[1] Castle Street was located near Hemmings Row and was also part of an area that included a workhouse, which became significant due to its proximity to St Martin’s Lane before it was demolished in 1886 during the creation of Charing Cross Road.

[2][3] Castle Street housed Archbishop Tenison’s Library, a charitable institution founded in 1684, which remained on the street until its demolition in 1886.

It connected Liverpool's town hall with the waterfront.
