Cecilia Gillie

Cecilia Grace Hunt Gillie (née Reeves; 17 August 1907 – 20 April 1996) was an English radio executive for the BBC.

From 1947 to 1967, she served as the BBC's Paris representative, and assisted senior members Robin Scott and Noble Wilson on radio matters.

[2] During these duties,[4] Gillie became especially worried with the arrangements of Edward R. Murrow, the CBS network's European director, with the two becoming close friends.

[2][3][5] Peter Pooley, the creator of Radio Newsreel and theatre expert,[4] consulted her and told her the stage director Michel Saint-Denis, was in England awaiting repatriation to France after the French Army demobbed him.

[4] Gillie provided BBC Radio's current affairs and talk programmes with French experts who were fluent in English.

[2][6] As she was about to be filmed at length by BBC Television Archives for an interview on 20 April 1986, she had a major stroke, which made it difficult for her to communicate and incapacitated her.
