[1] While working at the Launceston Stock Exchange in the 1890s, Hammond also played cricket and took part in amateur theatrical productions.

[3] In 1901 Hammond moved to the United States, where he made a living as a professional actor, first on the stage in New York, then in Hollywood movies.

[4][2] His film parts included prominent roles in Women Men Marry (1922),[5] Received Payment (1922)[6] and Big Brother (1923).
