L'Écuyer was a social worker and the former general manager of the Pontiac's CLSC clinic.
She was also an administration member for several health and social services associations in the Pontiac region.
After the departure of Chambly MNA Diane Legault, L'Écuyer was named the Parliamentary Secretary for Health Minister Philippe Couillard until 2007.
Despite losing 18% of the popular vote from the last election, she won a second term ahead of Parti Québécois candidate Patrick Robert-Meunier and the Action democratique du Quebec's (ADQ) Victor Bilodeau.
