Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria

The CIBN was incorporated in 1976 as the Nigerian Institute of Bankers.

The Institute is authorized to regulate the banking profession, set standards for bankers, and to maintain professional ethics through sanctions against members.

It was in incorporated in 1976 as the Nigerian Institute of Bankers, a company Limited by Guarantee.

The Institute attained Chartered status and became The Chartered Institute Of Bankers of Nigeria through Act 12 of 1990 which was repealed and re-enacted as CIBN Act No 5 of 2007.
