Chauncey, Ohio

Chauncey (/ˈtʃænsi/ CHAN-see[5]) is a village in Athens County, Ohio, United States.

Chauncey is located along Sunday Creek just above its confluence with the Hocking River.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.66 square miles (1.71 km2), all land.

[7] The village was named for Elihu Chauncey, a businessperson in the mining industry.

29.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

[12] The community owns the 127-acre (0.51 km2) Chauncey-Dover Community Park, formerly strip mine lands acquired by the United States Forest Service and ceded to the village.
