Christian Maasdorp

Christian George Maasdorp (11 June 1848 – 21 May 1926) was a South African jurist and Judge of Appeal.

[2] He received his basic education at Graaff-Reinet and obtained both the Second-Class and First-Class Certificates in Literature and Science of the Council of Examiners, later to be known as the University of the Cape of Good Hope.

Thereafter he became a member of the Inner Temple, where he was a fellow student of John Gilbert Kotzé.

[1] After South Africa became a Union in 1910, Maasdorp was appointed Judge President of the Cape Provincial Division of the Supreme Court, as well as Additional Judge of Appeal.

[4] Maasdorp was married to Ella Elizabeth Hutton and had six children.
