She won a gold medal in the K-1 200 m LTA event at the 2010 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Poznań.

At the 2015 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Milan, Italy, Gauthier finished in sixth place.
[3] In December 2022, Gauthier testified that a Veterans Affairs Canada employee offered her medical assistance in dying (MAiD) as an option when she was fighting for installing a wheelchair lift or ramp at her house.
