[3] From January 2017 until April 2019, Henzel was chargé d'affaires ad interim at the American Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

From 2013 to 2016, he was director of the Office of Israel and Palestinian Affairs at the State Department in Washington.

He has also served as deputy chief of mission in Manama, Bahrain; and counselor for political affairs in Amman, Jordan.

His earlier overseas postings included an assignment in Yemen from 1997 to 1999.
