Chrysoblephus cristiceps

[3] The genus Chrysoblephus is placed in the family Sparidae within the order Spariformes by the 5th edition of Fishes of the World.

[6] Chrysoblephus cristiceps gas a deep, compressed body which has a depth which fits into its standard length between 2 and 2.3 times.

[1] Chrysoblephus cristiceps has been shown by tagging studies to be largely resident as adults, although they will move between reefs.

[1] During periods of cold upwelling, it was found that daggerhead breams moved away from their normal home ranges, thought to be following the warmer waters.

As a long-lived, slow growing, late maturing, territorial hermaphrodite this species is vulnerable to overfishing.

[1] Later studies have found that the population has not recovered and that stricter conservation measures than those currebtly in place are required.
