Clare R. Baltazar

Through her research on Philippine Hymenoptera, Baltazar discovered eight previously undescribed genera and 108 species of parasitic wasps.

Clare Rilloraza Baltazar was born on November 1, 1927,[1] in San Fernando, La Union.

She studied in the United States from 1955 to 1957 through a two-year fellowship from the Bureau of Plant Industry, Manila.

[3] She studied at N.C. State College before earning her PhD in systematic entomology from the University of Wisconsin in 1957.

[5] Through her research on Philippine Hymenoptera, Baltazar discovered eight previously undescribed genera, one subgenus, and 108 species of parasitic wasps.

The alumni association of the University of the Philippines College of Agriculture granted her a Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1984.
