In Spring of 2012, the entire police department was suspended due to complaints, then in May 2012 the City Council disbanded the CPD due to a pending investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol to which the department was cleared and given an excellent rating by the Missouri Auditors Office and reinstated.
