Goldie was educated at Eton and at Trinity College, Cambridge,[1] where he was a member of the Pitt Club.
[1] In 1900 he won the Silver Goblets at Henley Royal Regatta, partnering Graham Maitland.
He won Silver Goblets again in 1904, this time partnering Claude Taylor.
[3] Goldie served in World War I as a captain in the Royal Field Artillery[4] and was awarded the Military Cross in 1917.
[1] Goldie later lived at Saint George's Hill, Weybridge and was president of Walton Rowing Club.
