[2] Clos Marey-Monge is situated atop the dejection cone of the Avant-Dheune Valley, a unique geological feature that contributes to its distinctive terroir.
The vineyard spans 20 hectares (0.2 km²) and is divided into seven distinct parcels, each with unique soil compositions and characteristics: Simone, Chantrerie, Les Paules, Grand Champs, 75 Rangs, Micault and Émilie.
[3] These individual plots are vinified separately to showcase their diverse expressions of Pinot Noir, Burgundy's flagship grape variety.
In July 2015, Clos Marey-Monge and the surrounding region were recognized as part of the "Climates" of Burgundy, which were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
This designation highlights the cultural and historical importance of Burgundy’s vineyards, where the concept of terroir and its influence on wine quality originated.
