Cockatoo is a rural locality in the Shire of Banana, Queensland, Australia.

[3][4] Cockatoo Provisional School was originally operated by a governess in a school provided by local parents unil the Queensland Government provided a teacher from 1958.

[5] Cockatoo State School opened on 23 January 1984 and closed on 31 December 2000.

[6][7] It was located in the south of Cockatoo, now within neighbouring Bungaban at 1473 Ponty Pool Road (25°47′24″S 150°15′37″E / 25.7901°S 150.2604°E / -25.7901; 150.2604 (COCKATOO STATE SCHOOL)).
