The Communist Party in Danzig (present-day Gdańsk) was initially founded as a subdivision of the East Prussian section (bezirk) of the KPD.
In 1921 a separate party branch of the KPD in the Free City of Danzig was set up.
[2] In the following elections the Party ran with varying success.
[3] The KPD East Prussia-Free City of Danzig organization (bezirk) published the daily newspaper Die rote Fahne des Ostens.
[5] The Communist Party was banned in the Free City of Danzig on 28 May 1934 by the Nazi Government but continued to run in the 1935 Volkstag elections as "list Plenikowski".
