Conus planorbis

[1] Like all species within the genus Conus, these snails are predatory and venomous.

They are capable of "stinging" humans; therefore, live ones should be handled carefully or not at all.

Sometimes, the granular striae cover the entire surface.

It is orange-brown or chestnut, frequently light-banded in the middle, and sometimes at the shoulder also.

[2] This marine species is found in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean off Madagascar, the Seychelles, the Mascarene Islands, the Indo-West Pacific, and Oceania; it is also found off Australia (in the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia).
