Lyrically, it is a hip hop song about being true to one's self and telling off people trying to "copy and paste" them.

A music video, directed by Phil the God, was created for the single that features Diggy tied up as a laboratory experiment for scientists to clone.

"Copy, Paste" was written by Simmons, Warren Felder, John Maultsby and Andrew "Pop" Wansel, who co-produced the song with producer Oak.

Diggy explained that the song is an anthem for innovators.
