He played college football at Miami and was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft.

Elder has also been a member of the New York Giants, Detroit Lions, and Washington Football Team.

[16] Elder was signed off of the Panthers' practice squad by the Washington Football Team on October 13, 2021.

[19][20] On March 6, 2024, Elder was signed by the Houston Roughnecks of the United Football League (UFL).

[22] He is also currently an assistant varsity football and basketball coach at his alma mater, The Ensworth School in Nashville, TN.
