Costantino Aiuti

Costantino Aiuti[a] (1 May 1876 – 29 July 1928) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See.

[6] He was on the staff of the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith[7][b] when, on 28 May 1925, Pope Pius XI named him a titular bishop and the first Apostolic Delegate to Indochina.

[8] He received his episcopal consecration in Rome from Cardinal Willem van Rossum[9] on 29 June 1925.

[citation needed] The French missionaries and bishops long accustomed to managing Church affairs in Indochina did not welcome the establishment of a Vatican delegation for the region nor the appointment of an Italian to head it.

[1][2] Based in Vietnam,[1] his tours included Laos and Siam, with at least one automobile trip that covered 2500 miles.
