Crotlieve (District Electoral Area)

Crotlieve is one of the seven district electoral areas (DEA) in Newry, Mourne and Down, Northern Ireland.

[2] Crotlieve forms part of the South Down constituencies for the Northern Ireland Assembly and UK Parliament.

It was created for the 1985 local elections, replacing Newry and Mourne Areas B and C which had existed since 1973, where it originally contained seven wards (Ballycrossan, Clonallan, Mayobridge, Rathfriland, Rostrevor, Seaview, Spelga).

For the 1993 local elections Rathfriland moved to the Knockiveagh DEA while Crotlieve gained Burren and Kilbroney.

For the 2014 local elections it was reduced by one ward, gaining Hilltown but losing Seaview and Spelga.
