DIY (professional wrestling)

On October 2, 2023, they reunited at the end of an episode of Raw after Gargano saved Ciampa from a beatdown by Imperium (Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci).

On September 2, 2015, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were announced as part of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament.

[2][3] On September 9, they successfully advanced in the first round of the tournament, defeating the also newly formed duo of Tyler Breeze and Bull Dempsey.

[13] Two days later, it was announced that Ciampa was also entering a new exclusive NXT contract, with his final independent booking set for September.

[17] On the November 9 episode of NXT, Ciampa and Gargano, now collectively billed as "#DIY", were defeated by The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) in the semi-finals of the 2016 Dusty Rhodes Classic, due to interference from The Revival.

Gargano's character then began a darker turn, becoming more unstable, showing a more aggressive style, and using a spike DDT to defeat EC3 on the July 4 episode of NXT, similar to the one Ciampa pinned him with at TakeOver: Chicago II.

On the October 24 episode of NXT, Gargano was revealed as the one who attacked Black prior to their original TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 title match, thus turning heel.

[39][40] Ciampa returned on the October 2 episode of NXT to face Cole, starting a feud with his stable, The Undisputed Era.

Gargano suffered a legitimate neck injury when Bálor performed his signature move 1916 on him on the entrance ramp, sidelining him indefinitely and ending the two's reunion prematurely.

[48] However, he instead hit Ciampa with the title belt, costing him the match and turning heel again; this marked the beginning of another feud between the two, and therefore another disbandment of DIY.

[49] On the April 8 episode of NXT, Gargano would defeat Ciampa in an Empty Arena No Holds Barred match, with assistance from LeRae, ending their three year-long feud once and for all.

However, Gargano would then make his return to WWE after several months away to rescue Ciampa, officially reuniting DIY in the process, and subsequently feuding with Imperium.

On the January 29, 2024 episode of Raw, DIY received a match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against The Judgment Day's Damian Priest and Finn Bálor, but were defeated.

On the March 18 episode of Raw, DIY defeated the Creed Brothers to qualify for the Six Pack Ladder Match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania XL but failed to capture any of the titles.

[53][54] On the April 15 episode of Raw, DIY defeated The New Day and the Creed Brothers to earn a match against Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) for the renamed World Tag Team Championship the following week, but failed to win the titles.

[57] The following week on the July 12 episode of SmackDown, DIY successfully defended their titles in a rematch against A-Town Down Under, after which they were attacked by Jacob Fatu of The Bloodline.

[58] Over the next few months, following their loss of the Tag Team Championships, DIY vowed to win back the titles, but there were signs of dissension between Ciampa and Gargano as the former took on a more aggressive character.

On the November 15 episode of SmackDown, Ciampa interrupted a title match between The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) and defending champions Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin), attacking both teams as Gargano tried to calm him down, further teasing the team's dissension.

He continued to hold and defend the title in parallel of his WWE activities (including against his wife Candice LeRae on August 23, 2015), before losing it to Mark Haskins at PROGRESS Chapter 32: 5000 To 1 on June 26, 2016.

On January 2, 2016 at the Season Premiere event, they unsuccessfully challenged Dreamwave Tag Team Champions Christian Rose and Matt Cage for their titles.
