Dana Alston

Her social justice work consisted of fundraising and advocating for communities that are often subjected to environmental neglect and suffer from its consequences.

[3] In relation to fundraising activities, she was the president of the National Black United Fund(NBUF).

The NBUF allowed workers to make contributions to a charitable fund that was led and organized by the Black community.

[1][2][3][4] Dana's participation in the summit assisted in the foundation for the Principles of Environmental Justice.

She received a grant from the Charles Bannerman memorial fellowship, after leading a delegation at Rio de Janeiro for the Earth Summit and Global Forum meeting in 1992.
