The club's grounds are located approximately 4 miles south of Kilkenny city on the Waterford Road.

The club was founded in 1922 and takes its players from a broad area south of Kilkenny city, encompassing Danesfort itself as well as Burnchurch, Cuffesgrange and part of Kells.

[1] It was awarded its first Kilkenny Junior Hurling Championship title in 1925, and also won the competition in 1930.

[1] The club played in both the Junior and Intermediate grades for several decades, without winning any championship titles.

In the latter, they defeated Clooney Gaels of Antrim in the final in Croke Park.
