David Thompson (footballer, born 1962)

David Stephen Thompson (born 27 May 1962) is an English former footballer who played as a midfielder.

Born in Manchester, Thompson started his professional career with Rochdale before joining Notts County in 1986.

In the 1989–90 League Cup, Thompson scored in the first leg of Wigan's second round tie against Liverpool, giving them a 2–1 lead at Anfield, although the team eventually went on to lose the match 2–5.
