Deirdre Hine

Dame Deirdre Joan Hine (née Curran; born 16 September 1937[1]) is a Welsh medical doctor.

Hine was born to David Alban Curran and his wife, Noreen Mary (née Cliffe), and raised in Cardiff.

Hine was affiliated with several organisations including Non-executive director of Dwr Cymru Welsh Water; Vice-President, Marie Curie Cancer Care; and Member, Science Committee for Cancer Research UK.

Hine was named as chair of the Commission for Health Improvement in August 1999, a position which she held until that body was abolished in 2004.

[3] Hine was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire "for services to medicine in Wales" in 1997.
