Denis Serre (born 1 November 1954) is a French mathematician who works as a professor at the École normale supérieure de Lyon, where he has chaired the mathematics department since 2012.
[1] His research concerns partial differential equations, hydrodynamics, and conservation laws.
[2] He obtained his agrégation in 1977, and his doctorat de troisième cycle in 1978, before finishing a D.Sc.
in 1982 from the University of Paris-Sud under the supervision of Roger Temam.
