Detroit Institute of Musical Arts

The Detroit Institute of Musical Arts was founded by several Michigan based musicians and teachers.

The school granted its own degrees up until 1945 when it began awarding diplomas through the University of Detroit (UD).

The school resumed granting its own degrees in the late 1950s when its association with the UD ended.

That school in turn became a part of the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in 1984, but was later passed off by the CCS to Marygrove College in 2000 to become the Institute of Music and Dance.
