Dame Ila Dianne Thompson, DBE (née Wood; born 31 December 1950) is a British businesswoman.
Thompson was born on 31 December 1950 to[1] Ronald and Joan (née Pinder) Wood.
[1] Thompson was educated at the Batley Girls’ Grammar School.
[5] In 2014, Thompson was among candidates considered to succeed Chris Patten as Chair of the BBC Trust, but in August, it was announced that the position would be given to Rona Fairhead, a former Chair of Financial Times Group.
[7] From Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), Thompson was elevated to Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2015 New Year Honours for services to the National Lottery and charitable services.
