A 9th round selection (81st overall pick) of the 1945 NFL draft, Huffman played four seasons for the Los Angeles Rams (1947–1950).
He then went to the WIFU (a precursor to the CFL's Western Conference) where he played for seven seasons for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1951–1955) and the Calgary Stampeders (1956–1957).
While still playing pro football, he began a career as a professional wrestler in the offseason.
