Diedre Irons

Diedre Allison Irons ONZM MBE (born 9 March 1945) is a Canadian-born concert pianist who has been based in New Zealand since 1977.

[1] Irons was a child prodigy and a star pupil of the Russian-born Canadian composer and virtuoso pianist Sophie-Carmen Eckhardt-Gramatté.

She toured 25 countries with the Slovenian violinist Miha Pogačnik between 1984 and 1991, giving piano master classes and concerts.

[5] In the 1989 New Year Honours, Irons was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire, for services to music.

[8] In the 2011 Queen's Birthday Honours, she was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to music.
