Discosia vagans was found on fallen leaves and dead stems on various rhododendron species in Italy and India.

[11] In Poland species of Discosia were found on 12 host plants including Anemone nemorosa L., Galium odoratum (L.) Scop., Gymnocarpium dryopteris (L.) Newman, Moehringia trinervia (L.) Clairv., Mycelis muralis (L.) Dumort., Oxalis acetosella L., Tilia cordata Mill.

[16] It has a wide scattered cosmopolitan distribution;[17] it is found in the USA,[13][14] Mexico,[11] Europe, (including Italy,[3][15][18] and Poland,[12]) India,[11] Japan,[5][11] Thailand,[3] China,[10] and New Zealand.
