Dix, New York

Dix is a town in Schuyler County, New York, United States.

[2] The Town of Dix is located on the southern border of the county and is north of Elmira.

The path of the canal was the Catharine Creek Valley, running along the eastern part of Dix.

In 1842, what is now the village of Watkins Glen was incorporated and set off from the town as "Jefferson."

As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 4,197 people, 1,643 households, and 1,071 families residing in the town.

29.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
