Donald E. Hattin

Donald E. Hattin (1928 - June 24, 2016) was an American geologist and paleontologist, and a geology professor at Indiana University Bloomington for nearly 40 years.

Hattin was an Assistant Professor of Geology at Indiana University Bloomington from 1954 to 1955, when he was drafted to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

He did not serve in combat, instead being assigned first to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, and then to the Icing Research Establishment on New Hampshire's Mount Washington.

He attained the rank of Captain before being discharged and returning to teaching at Indiana University in 1957.
