Donniel Hartman

Donniel Hartman (Hebrew: דניאל הרטמן; born October 13, 1958) is an Israeli Modern Orthodox rabbi and author.

Following the war, Hartman returned to the United States where he studied for a master's degree and served as a rabbi at a community center in New Jersey.

[1] He has written books and essays on Judaism and modernity and is a frequent speaker at academic conferences and synagogues[2] in the United States and Canada.

[4] He was described by a Reform Judaism organization as a thinker "whose thoughts, observations, and analysis of Israeli society are radical and refreshing.

[8] In 2007, Donniel Hartman founded a religious high school for girls, the Midrashiya,[9] whose curriculum includes "a critical approach to the study of Jewish texts," volunteer work, and a sex-education curriculum, "one of the first ever among religious schools in Israel.
