Douglas John Black KC (born May 10, 1952) is a lawyer and former Canadian senator and from Alberta, Canada.
He is former chairman of the board of the Michaëlle Jean Foundation and was founder of the Lake Crest Independent School in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
[4] He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2002 and was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal in December 2005 for community leadership.
[4] Prior to being appointed to the Senate of Canada, Black served as chair of the Board of Governors at the University of Calgary.
[10] Black stepped down from the Board and his roles in several other organizations prior to taking up his duties in the Senate.
