He won a silver medal in the 4 x 440 yards relay at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games alongside Terry Tobacco, Joe Foreman, and Laird Sloan.

[4] At the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, he competed in the men's 400 metres, but finished in last place in his heat.

[7] Four years later, at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Clement competed in the men's 800 metres, but again did not get out of the heats.

[11] He then went to the University of British Columbia, studying for a medical degree, before retiring from sport in 1959.
