In his first two seasons the team still only managed fewer than 10 victories and failed to make the ECAC playoffs.

In the following two seasons the team would qualify for the ECAC playoffs, falling in the quarterfinals each time.

The team advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time and reached the championship game where they fell to Minnesota Duluth in triple-overtime.
