Drachtstercompagnie

Drachtstercompagnie (West Frisian: Drachtster kompenije [ˈdraχtstr̩ kompəˈnɛi.ə]) is a small village in Smallingerland in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands.

It refers to the Drachtster Company who had the concession for the excavation of the peat around Drachten.

[4] A Bronze Age burial mound has been discovered, however later the raised bog made the area uninhabitable.

[6] On 7 September 1941, a Vickers Wellington of the Royal Air Force was shot down and crashed in Drachtstercompagnie.

The 6 crew members are buried at the local cemetery in a Commonwealth grave.
