Duchesse Anne (formerly called Großherzogin Elisabeth) is the last remaining full-rigged ship under the French flag.
[1] She was utilised as a training ship for young aspiring sailors in the German merchant marine.
During her tenure, she sailed near the Baltic Sea along with the South Atlantic for over three decades under cadet training operations.
[2] She was purchased by the Dunkirk city council in 1981; Another association subsequently began renovations upon her several months later.
She arrived at her final resting place in late-August 1998, permanently moored at the Harbour Museum in Dunkirk.
