Ernest Gustav "Dad" Schroeder (1882 – February 23, 1960) was an athletic director for the University of Iowa for 11 years and the first wrestling and tennis coach in school history.
Schroeder was born in Germany in 1882 and moved to the United States at age six.
His fatherly concern for his students and athletes earned him the nickname "Dad".
On January 18, 1937, "Dad" Schroeder was appointed to succeed Solem as Iowa's athletic director.
Anderson eventually accepted the coaching job but turned down Schroeder's offer of the position of athletic director.
