East Asia Tonight is a current flagship weekdays news programme on CNA that airs every weekday between 6:00pm - 7:00pm (Singapore/Hong Kong time), and provides a round-up of all the day's events in Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, North and South Korea, coverage of breaking news and international news in brief, as well as news analysis from CNA's correspondents within the East Asian region.
Originally, when the bulletin launched, it was helmed behind the scenes by editor Tan Yew Guan and was presented by Melissa Hyak.
It was subsequently presented by a host of other presenters mainly Genevieve Woo & occasionally Glenda Chong, Timothy Go, Gerard Lam, Otelli Edwards etc.
It was then announced on 19 March 2024 as part of the CNA's 25th Anniversary celebrations that the East Asia Tonight bulletin would be returning to CNA as a new 1-hour bulletin starting 15 April 2024 on every weekdays 6pm after a long 13-year absence.
The revived bulletin will be mainly helmed by Otelli Edwards, with other presenters Jill Neubronner, Loke Wei Sue & Syahida Othman serving as relief presenters.
