Echizen-Tomida Station is served by the Hokuriku Main Line, and is located 35.7 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Echizen-Hanandō and 38.3 kilometers from Fukui.
The station consists of one ground-level side platform serving single bi-directional track.
With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR West.
