Following a news broadcast in which Memphis speaks strangely, Steve thinks he should stop using it, But sneaks inside one more time to check his grade.

Memphis reveals that the previous weatherman left him with an alien device that he found that predicted the future at the cost of his life.

As the "Doppler" communicates with a horrifying alien creature, Steve decides that he has to destroy it, but finds himself under a mental assault.

The Smith family's escape is cut off by the creature as the camera pans out and reveals that the episode took place in an alternate universe, in which Steve decides to study at Buckle's urology clinic instead.

Meanwhile, in a smaller subplot, Roger decides to get into country music as a whip crack specialist, having heard that an old friend is now a big time producer in Nashville.

Daniel goes on to praise the episode for "focus[ing] on Steve’s eventual exodus from his family" and for having it come "full circle" from the pilot.
