Although an international event, the Forum is supported by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, the Department for Education, the Department for Business and Trade and the British Council.

[3] Founded in 2002[4] the Education World Forum was initially named 'Moving Young Minds' and the event was run by the governmental organisation Becta (British Educational Communications Technology Agency).

[6] Ministerial delegates representing over two thirds of the world's population attend the event each year.

The Education World Forum convened from 19–22 May 2024 in London in the United Kingdom, with 122 ministers from 124 countries participating in the event.
