Edward Hallowell (1808 – February 20, 1860) was an American herpetologist and physician.

[2] In 1851, Hallowell was elected as a member of the American Philosophical Society.
[3] Hallowell is commemorated in the scientific names of two species of frogs: Hyla hallowellii [4] and Leptodactylus hallowelli.
