He was an Assistant United States Attorney of the District of Rhode Island from 1940 to 1951.
[2] McEntee was nominated by President Lyndon B. Johnson on August 3, 1965, to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit vacated by Judge Peter Woodbury.
He was confirmed by the United States Senate on August 31, 1965, and received his commission on September 1, 1965.
