Egbert Myjer

He served on the European Court of Human Rights, elected in respect of the Netherlands, between 1 November 2004 and 31 October 2012.

In 1991 he made the change from the judiciary to the public prosecution service, and was appointed advocate-general at The Hague Court of Appeals.

He was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), and was an author, together with Nicholas Cowdery QC and Barry Hancock, of the IAP Human Rights Manual for Prosecutors (2003), which has been translated into French, Russian, Armenian, Turkish, Arabic, Spanish and Ukrainian.

Together with Peter Kempees he is the author of a cautionary tale about the European Court of Human Rights: Jack and the Solemn Promise (2010, ISBN 978-90-5850-574-3).

Since December 2012 he has been a member of the Board of the Netherlands section of Amnesty International and the Foundation Universitair Asiel Fonds.
