After graduation in 1943 in Alsdorf, he became a soldier in World War II and was taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1946.
[5] On 4 August 1973, Braun was elected president of the Middle Rhine Football Association and a member of the DFB Advisory Board.
On 25 August of the same year he became Vice President of the Western German Football Association.
[6] Also due to his charitable commitment, Braun received many sympathies within the DFB, UEFA and from the whole environment of German football.
After the Germany national team was defeated at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Braun had to justify his solidarity with criticized German national coach Berti Vogts.
[7] Two years later, national coach Vogts, won the European Championship.
